Outfit I made from 2 pairs of trousers, 2 quilted cushion covers & an old T-shirt. Using patterns that I made myself except for the beret pattern.
It
consists of: - a long sleeved T-Shirt, reversible dress, reversible
Gilet,
reversible Beret & small shoulder bag for my 6 year old niece.
Here’s
what I started with:
Then
I dismantled everything to see what I could get out of the fabric. The
cushion
covers were very generous as they were bound by lots of lovely bias
binding and
the fronts were pre-quilted. The fawn trousers were also useful as they
were
very wide legged.
And
here is what I got out………… a reversible dress
Back
and front of one side.
Back
and front of second side.
Then
I made the Gilet, I used bias in the shoulder and side seams to make it
become
reversible and reused the ties from the back of the cushions to fasten
it.
Then
came the Reversible Beret which was great fun, I used Wild Things free
patterns
from Wild Ginger for the pattern for this. I was really pleased with
the way
the fabrics mixed together.

I
then realised that I had the pocket and fly of the cream cords left and
I could
use them to make a small shoulder bag so I did using the back linings
of the
cushions to line the bag and make the strap.
Finally
I made the T-shirt, I did put off doing this a bit as I am not fond of
working
with knits but with my ball point pins that Father Christmas gave me
last year
I was Ok. I had to cut down the adult sized T-shirt and I used the left
over
piece across the bottom of the original T-shirt to make the longer
sleeves and
used the remaining bias binding to hem the bottom and the sleeves. I
then had
to appliqué a heart onto the front, as there was a small stain
that I hadn’t
noticed previously.
Phew
all done.
I
hope Nichole likes it.
Here's the Girl herself, looking wonderful while modeling it,
along with Auntie Claire looking some what bemused.
